DANCING IN THE DEEP END

This time last year, we had not imagined releasing Swim. I remember going on holiday in August and thinking ‘I really should be wearing a Gaia bikini’. It just didn’t feel right that I wasn’t. And the requests began- in our DM’s. Not loads, but enough to confirm my desire to be on the beach in nothing but Kai Swim. So, here we are, months later.

Versatility was our main goal. We wanted a collection that you could wear even with your other Kai pieces, and that you could wear many ways. The Yuwa bandeau and Zuwa swimsuit are just that- we came up with a myriad of ways to tie them. And we can’t wait to see what you guys do with them! I definitely will be wearing the Zeze swimsuit as a top- that cut-out detail is one of my favourite things about the entire collection.

Our goal is that your existing Kai wardrobe and our soon-to-be-released Summer pieces, complement these in the most beautiful ways. We hope that you make some of your best memories in these pieces, as we turn the corner after such a difficult time.

We decided to step it up a notch and flew to Tulum to shoot the collection. It was our biggest production so far so we were a little nervous but it was perfect. Everyone worked so well together and the last night ended in tears. We were all just so proud of ourselves and our journies. At dinner, we all reflected on how far we had come and our hopes and plans for the next year. And isn’t that exactly what Dancing in the Deep End is about? Feeling the fear and doing it anyway. It always pays off in success or lessons that turn into future success.

Our Collective will receive the link to pre-order the collection tomorrow from 4 PM GMT and then it opens up to everyone at 7 PM GMT. We are unlikely to restock any of our swim pieces this summer because of how long our polyamide fabric takes to develop.
